[Have a young man in a monocle and top hat, complete with a sprig of mistletoe decorating the band, (which seems to be nothing but a belt wrapped around it) squinting dubiously into the mirror.]

She said this is some kind of..... magical intelligent telegraph, right.....? You just talk to it?

[It's a little hard to use, even after Fumiko had showed him the basics, but he's working on it--and his uncertainty is quickly covered with an irritated, impatient look.]

Right, then. Anyone who can see this, listen up! I'm looking for a reindeer with a red nose or a tall guy with long silver hair! They--he answers to Rudolph. You can probably get the idiot's attention with candy or cakes, okay? He belongs with me, and he's going to be in big trouble if he's here but hasn't tried to find me yet. You hear me, Rudolph? You'd better have a good explanation, or I'm cutting you off from sweets for a whole week!

.....Now, how do I make it go.....?

[There's a long beat of silence between his message and his realization that he's not sure how to send it. Noël's scowl softens a little in confusion as he starts poking at the mirror with a gloved hand; a few seconds later, the message ends.]

I didn't hear anything about that.

[ But she isn't calling him a liar even as she follows the tray and claims a seat on the couch in front of the coffee table. Protecting children from "monsters"... she plucks two pieces up from the tray this time and pops one into her mouth. ]

How? I'd assume you'd fight, but the image of a fighting Santa Claus isn't one I would've conjured up. [ In fact, it's kind of... ] Just what kind of "monsters" are we talking about here? And can we have another tray of sushi, please?

Fine.

[The only response Noël dignifies Kamui with is an utterly unimpressed lineface, before sitting down himself; there's nothing wrong with not wanting to act like people's servant, as far as he's concerned. Still, he's willing to reach into the bag at his side, easing out another present that's identical to the first, right down to the wrapping paper and arrangement of sushi inside. That tray goes on the table too, still wrapped.]

I fight with magic. The monsters..... they're generally the twisted, corrupted remains of human souls that have done terrible things or suffered extensively in their lifetimes.

[Kamui dives for the second present. He tears at the wrapping like a hyena claiming someone else's kill. Dinah has officially kept her word, and he is now a happy camper.

Bonus: With this fun, new distraction, he doesn't bother interrupting the conversation to insult poor Noel again.]

[ Dinah pauses to turn her eyes and observe Kamui's enthusiasm, which draws a smile. She turns her gaze back to Noel as she pops another piece of sushi in her mouth, wondering over his words. ]

So it's like that.

[ Again, she swallows. ]

'Magic' is a pretty broad term where I come from. What kind of magic? You haven't encountered any familiar monsters here, have you?

[Even a sourpuss like Noël can't help but smile a little at Kamui's enthusiasm, reaching for the already opened tray himself; if he made it, he may as well help eat it.]

Ice magic. But no, not yet.

[The temporarily fond smiles he receive completely escape Kamui's notice. He's chowing down, content to listen between bites.

Ice magic. Huh. He files that away for future use. Maybe the next time he's in the mood for shaved ice.]

Ice magic would be pretty fitting for Santa Claus. You don't feel read like an ice elemental to me, though. What's the source? [ An enchanted object maybe? Noel feels a cold winter night after the first snowfall when the sky is clear and the air is cold and the world seems almost peaceful as you look to the moon and stars. He feels human, but different. Sounds Awakened. Hmm. ]

It's..... ehh.

[Even Noël has to wince at how ridiculous it sounds. Here come some air quotes.]

"The power of Santa Claus", according to Rudolph. It's..... I guess..... part of Lord Klaus' power? Maybe a part of his soul? I don't really know what he did, and I don't know if Rudolph fully understood it, either.

[Kamui chuckles around a mouthful of sushi.

Maybe he should try being the tenth Santa Claus. He'd show the rest how to do their jobs the right way.]
